Celebrate an incredible year with HWPO Training! From smashing PRs to global events, new programs, and giving back, 2024 was one for the books. Join us as we look back and gear up for 2025.
Dec 27, 2024
What a year it’s been! Our hardworking community has shown up stronger than ever—hitting training goals, breaking PRs, supporting one another, and connecting at events. We’ve broken down some (and certainly not all!) of the fun that took place by month as we look back on 2024, and get EXCITED for what lies ahead in 2025.
We led seven workouts in Miami for our community to throw down together, while cheering on our HWPO PRO athletes competing at TYR Wodapalooza. This was also the first time we did a community ruck (with our friends at GORUCK), which has become a crowd-favorite way to bond and get our steps in.
We also teamed up with the ABC Hopes Foundation for our January HWPO GIVE partner — a leading provider in wellness and empowerment for persons with intellectual disabilities.
The 2024 CrossFit Open kicked off in February, and Coach Jake set us up for success through tips and tricks week to week. He, alongside Coach Josh and Coach Ste, also worked hard to prepare 5,000+ members for each workout through our OPEN PREP program, which was provided free to all HWPO Training members.
Five months post-partum, Sammy shared her fitness journey—reflecting on training during pregnancy and since bringing Eddy into the world.
We also took to the green with HWPO GOLF Head Coach Scott Stallings at the The Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, AZ. At our community workouts, many athletes got to try HWPO GOLF and rotational movements for the first time, led confidently by HWPO GOLF Program Manager, Justin Ahrens.
Internally, we worked hard to improve our international shipping options, and launched more economical solutions. Not the sexiest stuff, but it PAYS OFF for our tee-loving HARD WORKERS around the world!
To celebrate the anniversary of launching HWPO GIVE, we again teamed up with One Summit, donating and encouraging our community to engage with their mission — building resilience with families fighting cancer.
We also hosted our first BIG event at HWPO HQ in Vermont; a Friday Night Lights showdown of open workout 24.3, complete with seminars, giveaways, and more.
In April we hit the pavement and launched HWPO RUN CLUB on Strava! Now almost 1,500 members strong, this group receives a free running workout each week from our team, clocks step together, and puts in the WORK.
When we weren’t scoring mileage, we were showing up for Quarterfinals. Three of our PRO athletes got after it at HWPO HQ, and Coach Ste led us through how to properly attack the workouts at our home gyms globally.
If there was any month packed with HARD WORK, this was it! Coach Josh shared proven strategies for tackling the iconic hero workout, MURPH. HWPO GIVE teamed up with The Able Games, a fitness competition that honors all skill levels. We showed up at the West Coast Classic where four of our HARD WORKERS qualified for the CrossFit Games. PLUS, O’Keefe and Sammy ran the Boston Marathon in honor of One Summit. Catch the recap of the race day action here.
Plus, we launched FLAGSHIP 2.0/60, a new and improved version of our original track with a complimentary time-limited version. Learn more about what makes it so special, and try 14 days totally free.
To celebrate Pride Month, we again teamed up with The OUT Foundation through HWPO GIVE. And, we added a team member to the squad — new to HWPO Training, and not at all to the industry or our HWPO family — Michele Letendre! With Michele’s experience and expertise, we launched HWPO AFFILIATE, and now support gyms with world-class programming around the globe.
As we prepared for the culmination of the CrossFit season, we needed fuel; enter Black Rifle Coffee. As a long-time Proud Partner, our founder Mat Fraser was thrilled to make a signature bag and blend with the American-made caffeine dealer.
We programmed CrossFit.com workouts from July 22 - August 4, and you can give those a whirl here ICYMI.
And, we put HARD WORK on the map with the launch of our HWPO AFFILIATE map. Now, when you’re traveling or looking for a new gym, you can easily pop in to a spot following HWPO Training programming.
August brought sadness with the tragic passing of Lazar Đukić during the CrossFit Games. Our hearts remain with his family and loved ones.
Before the competition began, we took the opportunity to get involved in Fort Worth, Texas. We love when HWPO GIVE can coincide with a local initiative, and we are grateful to have spent time with the team at Funky Town Fridge; an inspiring and revolutionary community initiative that seeks to end food apartheid in the area.
Lastly, for those long zone 2 sessions or to help you get through a grueling workout, we launched our monthly Spotify takeover in August. Every few weeks, a different HWPO Training team member picks a handful of songs and shares the inspiration behind their choices. Sammy Moinz (who was actually a DJ in a previous phase of life!) is bringing the beats for December, and you can listen in here. Check back regularly!
In the fall, we started MOVING. Our inaugural MOVE 100 challenge launched, encouraging HARD WORKERS everywhere to MOVE every single day. We provided free workouts, recipes and health tips daily in our app for FREE, and thousands of you took on the task.
And that’s not all — we also launched our free Couch to 5k running program, perfect for beginner or returning runners. The training takes you from day one to crossing the finish line of a 5k, and timed perfectly for a Turkey Trot Thanksgiving weekend. (PS: This program is still available, for free! Download it here.)
The spooky season was all about COMMUNITY. We came in hot across the pond at the Down Under Championship with event-specific merch (shoutout to our friends at TWL), group workouts and cheering on Jake Douglas and Jake Marconi on the competition floor.
Then, we launched our new Brand Ambassador program: the SHOW UP SQUAD. We were pleasantly surprised to receive thousands of applications, and onboarded a solid group of motivated, badass individuals from around the world to represent our core values in and outside of the gym. Applications are currently closed until spring, but you can learn more about the program here.
November marked the grand opening of our HWPO Training space at Club Studio - Tyson’s Corner. This partnership is a huge step in bringing quality programming (and scaling options!) to a new demographic who can’t train with others or at home, or are just looking for a high-end space to put in WORK.
We went to Aberdeen, Scotland for the Rogue Invitational, and you can catch up on all the happenings here.
On Black Friday, we launched our first zip-up jacket and an epic HWPO Barbell Club tee (there’s still a few left!). Then, we collectively logged more than 3,000 miles in our first virtual 5k.
And, here we are! Our team got together in Vermont early in the month to recap the year, and talk BIIIIG goals for 2025. We’re preparing for a new free challenge coming your way in January, Coaches Congress in Sweden, our first Hyrox event, and SO much more.
Don’t miss a thing and make sure you’re following us on Instagram, YouTube and subscribed on our email list. Thank you for being a part of this community, and we can’t wait to see your HARD WORK PAY OFF in 2025. Cheers to a happy, healthy and safe new year!
